“Home on the range” takes on a new meaning for the
physicians, nurses, staff, and patients associated with Front Range Cancer Specialists. In the fall of 2007, the practice completed construction of its new, 11,000 square-foot office in Fort Collins, CO. The three-physician, two-nurse practitioner practice has now settled into an office that features ten large patient exam rooms, five private infusion rooms, and seventeen infusion chairs. With more room and resources to accommodate patients, the practice has already seen an impact on patient volume.
“We’re now able to take as many new patients as we
receive referrals for,” said April Christensen, office manager for Front Range Cancer Specialists. “That was one of the primary reasons for the move. We’d outgrown our last office space, both in terms of room within the office and numberof appointments we were able to schedule.”
In addition to having more space, the practice designed its new facility to allow its physicians, nurses, and staff to deliver more services and conveniences to patients. Front Range Cancer Specialists provides medical oncology/hematology services, including outpatient infusion of chemotherapy products, hydrations, injections, therapeutic infusion, and
nursing evaluations. The practice offers hospital evaluations at nearby Poudre Valley hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies. It brings access to clinical trials, nutritional support, and therapy education for patients and their families. “We pride ourselves on giving kind and compassionate care, customer service extraordinaire,” said Christensen.
This “above and beyond” approach to customer service
extends even into the interior elements of the practice.
The practice invited staff members to submit photographs of Colorado’s scenic, natural beauty and framed them for display throughout the office. Patients in the infusion area are treated to views of the Rocky Mountains through large windows. All exam rooms contain computers for patient education, and all private infusion rooms include televisions with DVD players to help patients pass the time.
“We feel that the new facility has offered, and will continue to offer our patients and their families better care, because they are comfortable the minute they step foot in the door,” said Christensen. “We are focused on creating a better patient experience from the time they arrive to the time they leave to go home.”
Even though the relocation has moved Front Range
Cancer Specialists from the center of the metro area
to the southern side of the city, that too has brought
advantages to the practice.
“Parking at the old office was very difficult, as was getting in and out of the area where we were located. Now it may be farther for some patients to drive, but it’s much easier to access from the highway, and we always have available parking,” said Christensen. “We have patients coming to us from all over the state, as well as states surrounding Colorado, so the new location is wonderful.
“The space is new, fresh, warm and comfortable—an ideal
place for all of us to work and fulfill our mission to fight cancer with knowledge and compassion,” she said. z
