Zofran
(Ondansetron)

• Given orally and intravenously (IV) to protect you from nausea and vomiting sometimes caused by chemotherapy. Zofran works by blocking the signal that causes nausea and vomiting.

• When taken orally, Zofran is taken every 8 hours for the first few days after chemotherapy.

• When given by IV, Zofran is given prior to chemotherapy and if needed with IV hydration.

• Usually very well tolerated

• Some of the side effects may include:
  1. Constipation
  2. Headache
  3. Fatigue
  4. Rarely diarrhea

• If you continue to have nausea despite following your anti-nausea regimen with Zofran, contact your doctor or nurse for further directions.
