Venofer
(Iron sucrose)
- Venofer is used to treat iron deficiency anemia.
- Given intravenously over 15 to 30 minutes.
- Usually administered in multiple doses.
- Some of the side effects may include:
- Low blood pressure
- Cramps/Leg cramps
- Nausea/vomiting
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Allergic reaction
- A test dose may be given which is a small portion of the total dose the doctor has ordered.
- You will be watched for a period of 30 minutes to 1 hour to monitor for an allergic reaction before the rest of the dose is given.
Rare side effects may include:
Fever, fatigue, chest pain, abdominal pain, dizziness,muscle or bone pain, shortness of breath, cough, itching.
