Venofer
(Iron sucrose)

• Venofer is used to treat iron deficiency anemia.

• Given intravenously over 15 to 30 minutes.

• Usually administered in multiple doses.

• Some of the side effects may include:
  1. Low blood pressure
  2. Cramps/Leg cramps
  3. Nausea/vomiting
  4. Headache
  5. Diarrhea
  6. Allergic reaction
  • A test dose may be given which is a small portion of the total dose the doctor has ordered.
  • You will be watched for a period of 30 minutes to 1 hour to monitor for an allergic reaction before the rest of the dose is given.
  Rare side effects may include:

Fever, fatigue, chest pain, abdominal pain, dizziness,muscle or bone pain, shortness of breath, cough, itching.
