Dr. McFarland graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. Dr. McFarland earned a Health Professions Scholarship with the United States Air Force and served as an officer and physician for 10 years on active duty. He completed his internal medicine residency at David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB, CA (in association with University of California-Davis Medical Center) and his Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB, TX. During his training, he completed clinical rotations in bone marrow transplantation at the world-renowned Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. His last position was as Chief of Hematology-Oncology at Wright-Patterson Medical Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. He deployed to Kirkuk, Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom for 4 months in 2005. Dr. McFarland's areas of interest and experience include breast, lung, colon, and prostate cancer, lymphoma, and head and neck cancer. His other interests include backpacking and camping, hiking, baseball, and playing chess. Dr. McFarland is married to Debbie McFarland, has a 2 year old son Logan, and is making his home in Fort Collins.
